Nominator: Aaron S

I am a sports analyst and New England Patriots fan. Despite losing in the Superbowl to the New York Giants, I have an immense amount of respect for New Yorkers and grudgingly admit that NYC has the best pizza in the world.

Nominee: Cam W

Cam W stepped up in a big way to help Marcus regain his lost CryptoNewYorker. He didn't have to return it, but in doing so showed what it means to be a real New Yorker. I think that Cam receiving a GTNY would be an awesome way to recognize his generosity and show that this community is able to reward people who do the right thing, even when they don't expect something in return.

i am a music journalist based in Venice. started my NFT journey 1 year ago and have been a part of Bright Moments community since June (CV #50)

Nominee: Chelsea A

Chelsea is one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. Born in Saratoga Springs, NY, she has been a NYC resident since 2012. She is an an architect working with mission driven companies to aid in capital developments from design through construction, currently she is working on a project that includes development of schools and an 8 mile long park in New York. Chelsea is also a soon to be certified Katonah yoga teacher specializing in the programmatic links between architecture, asana practice and programming the esoteric body. She is kind, funny and overall awesome human and definitely the coolest New Yorker I know! (And she knows absolutely nothing about crypto and NFTs lol so this would be her very first one! She would be an amazing addition to the Bright Moments / CryptoCitizens community)

Nominator: Elana | TradingFemale D

My name is Elana - most people know me as CryptoVenetian 101 or the Tradingfemale. I received my first NFT when I walked into Brtmoments gallery on June 29th. I had heard of NFTs but could not comprehend the value that a JPEG could have. Since I minted my first NFT at the gallery, a door and opportunity had opened in front of me that I didn't even know existed. I spend most of my free time on Twitter / Discord and dove right into the community that NFTs has built.

Nominee: Elyse | TradingMom D

My mom - TradingMom, is my role model. She is one of the kindest and supportive individuals you have ever met. She listens when I spend a majority of our phone calls talking about NFTs, and always put others before herself. Yesterday, I hosted a 2 hours spaces on Twitter, and TradingMom was there through it all. It took me minting my first NFT to truly understand the value of NFTs, and I hope that TradingMom can mint an NFT for herself to take that first step.

I believe that you learn by doing, and so I really hope I can give this experience to the person who has given me everything.

TradingMom - Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and I hope I can give this experience to you.

Nominator: Josh F

I moved out to LA in 2019, live in the Venice area and a friend introduced me to Bright Moments. I instantly realized the BM is something unique, signed up for a CV and the rest is history.

Nominee: Max F

I’m nominate my brother Max because I genuinely feel he deserves it, I want him to share the same excitement that I did when I minted my CNY and he’s really getting into NFT’s and crypto. As an artist himself he became fascinated with graffiti and street art in 2005 while attending school in NYC. He’s a real deal NYEr, raised right outside the NYC, moved to Brooklyn in 2005, construction worker by trade, lived in Brooklyn, Manhattan and most recently Queens over the past 15 years. He quit his job in 2021 to open up his own business and in these challenging times I don’t know anyone who would be more grateful to receive a GTNY.

Nominator: Tom M

I am a lifelong New Yorker currently living on the UES. I have spent most of my professional life as a currency trader which naturally attracted me to crypto. Most recently, I have developed a passion for the NFT space and have been trying to learn as much as possible. I learned about BM following the USV blog and have been hoping to get a chance to mint a CNY. Its an incredible project that I hope to be a part of.

Nominee: Phil G

Phil was born and bred in Queens. He personifies NY grit, hard work, street smarts, and confidence. As a college student, he parlayed running his family's diner by Wall Street into an entry level job that was the beginning of a wildly successful professional career as an investor. As the owner of a CryptoPunk, as well as some other blue chip nft's, Phil would be a fantastic addition to the BM and CNY community. His vast network, both professionally and socially, as well as his large social media following would be assets to the CNY family and brand.

I am new to the NFT community but am eager to learn more about it and get involved. I think this would be a good way to ask my nominee out.

Nominee: Anna D

Anna is a very hardworking girl and when she's not studying she devotes all of her time to helping others in her community. Anna has brought joy to people in so many ways such as singing at nursing homes and hospitals, volunteering at food pantries, and working with special needs children. She is active in politics and has worked on campaigns for City Council and State Senate. Anna works hard to ensure that her brother with special needs has a secure future. Nominee: Alana E

My nomination is Alana Entin! She is truly an amazing New Yorker that has really battled her ups and downs. She began working at Solan Kettering one of the largest hospitals in NYC January 2020 just months before Covid hit. As everyone quickly tried to escape NYC she stayed strong and made the best of her situation. She managed to keep a positive and enthusiastic attitude everyday at work while she was assisting with COVID and breast cancer patients. She epitomizes New York strong and is an extremely deserving nomination for all her hard work during the pandemic and her continued work with some of New York’s strongest fighting patients.

Nominator: Rachel R

I am an Emergency Medicine physician by day and budding NFT enthusiast by night. I got my first NFT ever last week when I minted my CNY! I have been nonstop telling everyone about how awesome my experience was and hope to have the opportunity to share that with others in my network.

Nominee: Elaine C

Elaine has lived in New York City since the early 2000s and is an optometrist serving the local community providing eye exams, glaucoma screens, glasses/contact fittings, you name it. Her practice is based in the East Village and focuses on inclusivity, serving everyone regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ideologies, and age.

She is a sneakerhead and fan of Asian-inspired art. She recently has gotten bit by the NFT bug but does not own one yet.

From Elaine herself: "Despite looking as disparate as the Crypto New Yorkers themselves, there is a tenacity, open-mindedness, and eagerness to embrace new endeavors that connects all New Yorkers in their core.

The enthusiasm around the Bright Moments community is contagious. I have definitely caught the Crypto New Yorker bug and I hope you will consider me a true New Yorker and grant me a trip to the chocolate factory!"

I'm a grad student in cell and molecular biology in the NYC metro area. I was recently introduced to crypto by a friend that goes by neff. If/when I graduate I will be the first in my family to obtain such a degree. Here's wishing me some luck!!!

Nominee: Angela W

Angela is a Social Worker in a public NYC Hospital in Harlem. She worked in the hospital throughout the pandemic and didn't skip a beat even after catching COVID-19 herself. She dedicates her hours, heart, body and mind to her patients and has come to the aid of several New Yorkers. She is a true and true New Yorker. Besides that she's shown me every great place to eat in Chinatown. She's a foodie and makes sure to support her local eateries. If she's not a New Yorker than I don't know who is. She is a personal friend and maybe my secret therapist, but I only come to her for aide after she has taken care of her patients. She deserves all the luck she can get!!!!

Nominee: Stephanie H

Steph is a true New Yorker who recently got obsessed with the NFT community, specifically when I told her that there was a project that had IRL meetup's and and an art/event utility. An artist herself, she really appreciates what this project is doing, bridging the art community together IRL all while utilizing the technology of the blockchain. She would love nothing more than to be a part of it. I think Steph deserves a seat at the table and could potentially even play a supporting role if your project ever heads to Tokyo (since she has dual residency there as well and is tied in the with art community there). Either way, I know she would love this opportunity to start her Bright Moments journey in New York.

I'm a lifelong New Yorker (currently living in Brooklyn) working in product by day and going deeper into NFTs & crypto by night. Ask me for NYC food recommendations and I promise I'll deliver.

Nominee: Eli K

Eli is a lifelong New Yorker hailing from Morningside Heights. He's an up-and-coming documentary film producer and comedy writer who most recently worked on a film chronicling the NY restaurant industry during the worst of Covid, which aired at the Tribeca Film Festival.

He has just begun his journey into crypto, buying a few small portions of coins here and there in the past month, but has quickly become fascinated by the community aspects of NFTs. The CryptoNewYorkers immediately resonated with him as a beautiful encapsulation of the diversity and creative spirit of New York City.

He unfortunately doesn't have the funds to join the community via a purchase, but I think Eli represents the best of New York City and would make an excellent addition to the CryptoCitizen community.

Some of my most rewarding experiences in the web2 world have been building products to help others, mainly in fintech helping people get on solid financial footing to help them buy a home or pass a credit check to get a new job. Over the past couple years, I've become enamored with the possibilities of web3 and how it's bridging the ideas of community, ownership and self-governance to help put everyone on equal footing.

Nominee: Alex G

Alex is a lifelong New Yorker and Brooklyn resident. He is the founder of Lemontree, whose mission is to help those who need a hand. His nonprofit has helped thousands of low-income families in New York get access to food in a dignified way.

There are more food pantries and soup kitchens in the country than McDonald's but most people won't access them since they're hard to find and tough to navigate. Alex started Lemontree to offer an easy to use app to help people find free food (like Yelp). During COVID, he organized 400 volunteers and formed a coalition across the boroughs to make sure that people didn't go hungry.

Alex reflects what makes New York a special place: a genuine desire to help your neighbor, being resilient when times are tough, and a sense of optimism that the future can be better. He's a hometown hero and would be an incredible addition to the community.

Nominee: Douglas M

DM sees a new horizon that defi can propel us into far beyond our wild imaginations.

We met the way people used to meet, at a funky house party in Brooklyn, he works finance in Midtown, me in fashion/retail. Both our boys were born at NYU Langone, and both of us planted our roots here to live the dream in the city were if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

We appreciate the small things NYC has to offer, free days at the Museum of Natural History to spend hours at the dinosaur exhibit followed by burgers, fries and concretes at Shake Shack. The Recession Special at Gray’s Papaya, and feasts throughout Chinatown are always satisfying.

Our first date was at the Met. DM is into street photography and has an album and collection dedicated to street art and graffiti. He doesn’t have any NFTs yet, but DM naturally belongs within the CryptoCitizan community. Please help us nominate DM to receive a GTNY to appreciate a piece of the CryptoNewYorker firsthand.

Jake C is my lifelong friend who has a passion for art and helping people. He wears many hats, but at the core he is a New Yorker. Jake grew up in Pittsburgh with aspirations to “make it” in New York, and he worked his ass off in college so that he could do just that. Fast forward to now, and he’s lived and worked in New York City since college and has engrained himself deeply into NYC society. Outside of work, he has volunteered at Saint Joe’s Soup Kitchen every week for the past 5 years to give back to the community. Jake also creates physical art (he covered half his studio apartment in plastic to paint), which he hopes to develop into NFT collector items down the line. Jake also blogs as a means of releasing anxiety and mental stress (ifofinterest.com), and many have found his blogs to be helpful for their own mental health. He has taught me a lot about leadership and perseverance. Many years later, Ray is now a leader in the tech industry, and has created a vibrant community around the world. He continues to be an avid traveler, and has been to all 7 continents. From middle school to high school to college now, I have watched her grow into the type of person who consistently puts others above herself. She has been volunteering at a group home for many years, actively supporting and mentoring children. Shana is there for them week after week, month after month. On several occasions, I have visited the group home with her. Upon her entry, the youngsters swarm her and she always gets a hug even from the older, more disgruntled kids. I am a New Yorker who loves my city! I came here as an immigrant and I love how NYC is a melting pot of cultures. The city is always bustling with interesting things to do, food to try, and venues to explore.

Nominee: Anton D

Anton was born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. His grandma, who he says was astounded by nyc, made sure to take him to every landmark, museum, and park she could. His family never owned a car (and I’m pretty sure they still don’t) so he could only get around by bike, bus, or train. And when the trains and busses weren’t running (aka most of the time), he would walk for miles through Brooklyn to get home. He was known in our friend group as Map God because he was just a natural at navigating New York. We went to hs in Manhattan, an hour and a half train ride each way from his house. We both became well accustomed to train delays and other MTA bs. In fact, Anton missed one of his AP exams because the D train was delayed for 30 minutes. By senior year, he would sleep on every train ride yet somehow always wake up right at his stop. Overall, I think Anton is as New Yorker as it gets. He loves the city and the culture and will forever identify with it.

I've lived in new York my whole life, was into crypto for the past couple years and got into NFTs a couple months ago. I am currently a college student.

Nominee: dmitry b

Dmitry is an MTA worker here in Brooklyn. He's been working for the MTA almost 20 years now and helped a tremendous amount during COVID. He was working double shifts most days of the week to get more busses out on the streets of New York. I met him in the rehab center I used to work at in the summer and he came everyday after work to visit his wife after surgery. One of the most selfless people I have ever met. He is a great person and a great part of the new york community.

I'm interested in people and helping people achieve their dreams. It's amazing how much someone can achieve when you simply listen to them share their thoughts and ideas. Often times, a person simply needs to speak or type their thoughts with someone else to form a the confidence to move forward and act. I tend to be the person listening or asking probing questions.

I love systems that produce positive change for people. Art is an expression of that. Crypto is an expression of that also.

Nominee: Lauren R

She is an actress, writer, producer (worked for Animal Kingdom Films), has a degree in piano performance, a Patsy Rodenburg "voice and presence" coach and just penned her memoir with a one-woman show to accompany it. Her "voice and presence" clients include celebrities, athletes, PWC and Tony LaRussa’s Leaders and Legends.

Lauren is from a small town in Idaho of 3000 people. She was raised in a fundamentalist cult which she left at 18 and is a survivor of childhood abuse. Lauren has done it all, from being a stripper to assisting celebrities to giving a child away for adoption, there’s nothing she hasn’t seen or been through. She has the grit of a native New Yorker.

Nominator: Duncan T

Resident of downtown Manhattan where I live with my wife and 2 dogs. By day I am VP of Growth at a large art company, and by night... I'm BATMAN! ok, maybe not... but by night I am heavily involved in web3 by virtue of DAO involvement and general interaction with the overall crypto / NFT community. My worlds are starting to collide as I've now been finding myself thinking about how to engage with the NFT space at work.

Nominee: Madeline L

Madeline is my colleague at work, a real New Yorker, and also a huge proponent of widespread crypto adoption. Although she has yet to engage in crypto herself, Madeline is the driving force at our company (200+ year old international corporation) pushing for us to accept crypto as a form of payment for all services. In addition, Madeline has been working with our company's leadership to pioneer ways for Web3 native constructs, such as DAOs, to interact with traditional world infrastructure. I believe receiving a GTNY would push Madeline over the tipping point and help her become fully cryptonative. She is already seeing all of the benefits and working hard to improve the ecosystem from the outside, and now it's time for her to come over to the inside.

I'm an LA-native that got into NFTs around March with the launch of NBA Top Shot. That lead me to the broader world of NFTs, which naturally lead me to CryptoVenetians. Fast-forward to today, I am now an NFT addict/evangelist trying to educate everyone I know about NFTs!

Nominee: Leeana K

Leeana's story struck a chord with me as I read it on Discord. Although we come from very different backgrounds, we share a similar path and her story just resonated with me. Immigrant parents starting a new life in a new country, growing up in tough economic circumstances, yet having such a deep appreciation for the city and all the rich experiences it provides. I too lost my father early to cancer, so I can empathize with her loss and the longing to be with him again someday. I also felt her loneliness in the NFT space, which reminded me of when I first started in March with no one to reach out to. So It's my honor to be able to nominate her today.

Nominator: Amanda L

I'm a voraciously curious human - I've channeled that energy academically and professionally to be a world class expert in architectural acoustics, acoustic signal processing, and acoustic hardware design. If you live in Brooklyn chances are high you've been in a space I've worked on. My hardware is on the streets in autonomous cars.

For fun I like to pretend I'm still a acrobat.

I've lived in NYC for 13 years, with two short 2 year stints in San Francisco. I always kept one foot in the city.

Nominee: Winkel R

Winkel (thats his middle name, first name Mark) was a prolific community organizer, and event producer, throwing 2000 person events several times a year for 13 years. Venues from greenwood cemetery to the Pfizer factory in Brooklyn.

He supported artists and gave them a platform. He also co-created a beautiful community in Dumbo, before it was a nice neighborhood. https://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/25/greathomesanddestinations/the-art-of-digging-in.html

After hurricane sandy, Mark W threw a kids carnival in the Rockaways out of pocket to cheer them up, and brought his performers from his usual events —- https://www.today.com/news/news/carnival-brings-smiles-during-hurricane-sandy-aftermath-1C7174785

Also, if you're a fan of House of Yes, he has been instrumental to it's existence, I think won best venue in NYC before the pandemic.

Bottomline, I think NFTs are the future of community art and event patronage, and I think it would be a wonderful to commingle them with his scene.

Nominator: John K

I'm a former professional baseball player that now works in finance here in NYC. my introduction to blockchain was in college, where I wrote my senior thesis on how blockchain-based energy markets could reduce climate abatement costs. Since then, I've been hooked on blockchain and all of its applications, which has led me to NFTs. I'm a highly motivated person who thrives off of passion and positivity, and could not be more excited about finding a group of like-minded people here in the city.

Nominee: CJ D

CJ has been been learning about crypto and blockchain for a few years now, and I know for a fact he spends more time daily doing research on NFTs and blockchain than he than he does on his day job. He works at an investment bank here in NYC and wants to leave banking for DeFi because he understands the importance of this technology evolving into different industries. He’s hoping to use his expertise in project management to help small blockchain-based companies create new projects and grow. He thinks that DeFi will lead to enormous societal benefits by shifting power into to the hands of individuals. He came across Bright Moments recently and told me the community is building something special. He went to the office hours and spoke with several members (s/o Perry), and raved about how BM was building the future of NFTs. I can’t think of a better person to join this community. As a person, he’s very outgoing, sociable, and creative. He would do great as a CryptoNewYorker.

Nominee: Malik P

Malik is a college student who’s been in the NFT space for about 6 months. As a born and raised New Yorker this project hits close to home. That was why I couldn't think of a better person than Malik for the nomination. We've been friends since Pre-K and he's always been really into tech an letting me know about the next big thing. With the growth of the NFT space and the hopefully soon establishment of the Metaverse, I think a real NYV NFT would be the perfect icon for him.
